On May 29, 2016, Merle Kitchen, a 57-year-old Kansas City resident, was shot and killed at a residence on Lawndale Avenue. Kansas City police officers responded to a report of a shooting and found Kitchen dead inside the home. The incident was classified as a homicide, and despite initial investigations, no suspects have been apprehended. The case remains unsolved, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
