In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri, the sound of gunshots shattered the quiet of the neighborhood around 69th Street and College Avenue. When police officers arrived at the scene just after midnight on June 15, 2025, they discovered a vehicle near the intersection. Inside, they found 18-year-old Deron McHenry and another young man, Arron L.
Hall Jr., both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers immediately began trying to save their lives while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive. Tragically, one of the young men was pronounced dead at the scene. Deron McHenry was rushed to Research Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. He was born on December 2, 2006, in Kansas City. Deron had attended both East High School and Grandview High School, where he was known for his academic and athletic abilities, particularly in basketball. At the time of his death, he was working as a Downstream Technician at Advanced Drainage Systems.
The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the double homicide, but as of now, no suspects have been taken into custody. Investigators are still working to determine the events that led to the fatal shooting and are searching for any available surveillance footage. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information to contact homicide detectives or the TIPS hotline, with a significant reward offered for information leading to an arrest.
