On the early morning of June 7, 2017, a violent scene unfolded in the 7100 block of Monroe Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. Around 1:00 a.m., the quiet of the neighborhood was shattered by a barrage of gunfire that residents later described as sounding like a war zone.
