Anthony Dontrea Moss, a 32-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee, was known to his family as "Lil Mack." He was living and working in Indianapolis, Indiana, trying to build a better life for his young son. Anthony and his mother, Timisha Moss, were extremely close, sharing a bond that his family described as being more like twins than mother and son. He was her only child.

On the evening of September 23, 2026, a shooting occurred in a residential neighborhood on the near north side of Indianapolis. Shortly before 7:45 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3500 block of North Kenwood Avenue after receiving a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both men were transported to area hospitals for treatment. One of the victims was listed in stable condition. Anthony Moss, however, was in critical condition and died from his injuries at the hospital. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.

Investigators from the IMPD Homicide Office began looking into the double shooting, but no suspects were immediately identified or arrested. His family, who was completely unprepared for the tragedy, was left with the heartbreaking task of bringing Anthony's body home to Memphis for his funeral and burial.

As of January 2026, the case remains unsolved. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Shem Ragsdale at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or by email at [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
