On the evening of August 11, 2019, Javonte Mills, a 20-year-old man from Akron, Ohio, was fatally shot after an altercation near North Hawkins and Berendo Avenues. The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., and Mills succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
