On the evening of September 7, 2026, a small gathering at the Brittany Place Apartments in LaGrange, Georgia, turned into a scene of violence that left two young men dead and another injured. Amarious Williams, an 18-year-old, was among the victims of the tragic shooting that unfolded at an apartment on Hogansville Road. The incident began when police received a 911 call around 9:41 p.m. reporting that multiple people had been shot.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a grim scene. Outside the apartment, they found 17-year-old Drevion Brewer, who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Inside apartment 922, they located Amarious Williams, who had sustained several gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A third victim, a juvenile, was found nearby with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators determined that a small gathering of four people was taking place inside the apartment before the shooting. According to reports, one of the individuals began acting erratically, which led to an altercation. Shortly after, gunfire erupted. Police quickly identified 18-year-old Joshua Preston as the suspect and took him into custody. Preston has been charged with two counts of malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, with the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues. The case remains under investigation to determine the exact motive that led to the fatal shooting.
