In the summer of 2026, a family tragedy unfolded in Shreveport, Louisiana, leaving a community in mourning and a young life cut short. On the afternoon of Sunday, August 2nd, 14-year-old Makayla Pennywell was at her home on LeGardy Street when she was fatally shot. The teenager, a student at Donnie Bickham Middle School, was found on a couch with a gunshot wound to her head.
