In the winter of 2019, the life of 43-year-old Tomika Denise Alexander-Griffin was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. On the evening of Wednesday, February 6th, officers from the Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to the Pier Landing apartments located on Flournoy Lucas Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene within one of the residences.
Inside the apartment, Tomika Alexander and a man were found, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The Caddo Parish Coroner's office later identified both individuals. Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department quickly began to piece together the events that led to the two deaths. The evidence uncovered at the scene suggested a violent and final confrontation had taken place.
The investigation concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. It was determined that the man shot and killed Tomika Alexander before turning the weapon on himself. As the perpetrator died at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with Alexander's death. The case was closed following the determination of the murder-suicide, leaving friends and family to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a woman described as loving, caring, and possessing a big heart.
