In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026, the tranquility of Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police from the 69th Precinct arrived at the scene near the Belt Parkway and Rockaway Parkway around 3:14 a.m., they discovered the body of 30-year-old John Garvin.
