In the early hours of June 1, 2026, the life of 32-year-old Devante Shields was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in the Old Louisville neighborhood. The incident, which unfolded around 1:15 a.m. in the 100 block of West Oak Street, left another man, Lavonta Churchill, dead and a woman wounded. Louisville Metro Police officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Shields and Churchill with critical gunshot wounds. The injured woman was found nearby in the 500 block of West ...
