In the early hours of June 1, 2026, the life of 32-year-old Devante Shields was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in the Old Louisville neighborhood. The incident, which unfolded around 1:15 a.m. in the 100 block of West Oak Street, left another man, Lavonta Churchill, dead and a woman wounded.
