On what should have been a night of celebration to welcome the new year, Kentrell Morris, a 27-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Louisville, Kentucky. The shooting occurred on January 1, 2019, after Morris had been out celebrating New Year's Eve with friends at Cole's Place, a nightclub in the western part of the city. His life was cut short when he was discovered in an alley near the establishment, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
