Nasir Majied, a 22-year-old male Towson University student, was driving north on York Road in Towson, Maryland, on Friday afternoon, June 5, 2026, when an ordinary trip through the busy downtown area turned deadly. Around 3:20 p.m., just before the Towson traffic circle, police received reports of gunfire involving two vehicles traveling northbound. Officers from the Towson precinct reached the scene within about two minutes and found Majied suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Majied had been driving when another driver, traveling in a separate vehicle in the same direction, fired several shots at him. The shooting happened in broad daylight near the Towson Circle area, a heavily traveled part of town close to businesses and pedestrian activity. Majied was given aid at the scene and rushed to an area hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Towson University later confirmed that Majied was one of its students. University President Mark Ginsberg called his death a devastating loss and said the school was working to support Majied’s family, friends, and the broader campus community. The killing also shook people in downtown Towson, where community leaders and residents expressed concern about violence erupting in such a public place.

In the days after the shooting, Baltimore County homicide detectives worked to determine what led to the attack. Police said they were investigating the possibility that the shooting stemmed from road rage, though they also said other motives had not been ruled out. Early in the investigation, authorities believed there was one person in each vehicle, but they had not immediately released a full description of the suspect or vehicle.

Baltimore County police later identified 33-year-old Reginald Gray Jr. as the man wanted in connection with Majied’s killing. Investigators said Gray was driving a silver 2007 Nissan Altima at the time of the shooting, and they released a wanted poster along with a surveillance image of the vehicle. Police described Gray as 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 190 pounds, with a distinctive tattoo on the front of his neck. The vehicle was said to have tinted windows and Virginia registration SXM-4392.

As of the latest available reports, Gray had not been arrested and police were still searching for him. Authorities warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous and urged anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately. Police also announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, and tips could be submitted to Baltimore County police or anonymously through Metro Crime Stoppers.
