In the early evening of a Tuesday in Towson, Maryland, a violent sequence of events shattered the calm of the 8500 block of Loch Raven Boulevard. On December 17, 2024, a vehicle carrying ten people became the target of a mass shooting. The chaotic scene culminated in the vehicle overturning and bursting into flames near the Johnson-Fosbrink Funeral Home around 7:15 p.m.
When authorities arrived, they discovered a horrific scene with multiple gunshot victims scattered near the blazing car.
Amidst the carnage, 26-year-old Charles Graham Jr. was found and pronounced dead at the scene. He was a male resident of Baltimore City. Nine other individuals, with ages ranging from 14 to 27, were injured in the incident. Eight of them suffered from gunshot wounds, while the ninth person was injured in the crash. Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the harrowing moments as the victims' vehicle was pursued before it crashed and was then fired upon by individuals who emerged from another car.
Investigators believe the attack was a targeted act of violence and not a random incident. They are exploring the possibility that the shooting was in retaliation for the recent fatal shooting of 19-year-old Andrew Blessing, which occurred in the same vicinity on December 9. While no direct arrests have been made for the murder of Charles Graham Jr., the investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Jaquan McCain on December 19. McCain was apprehended during a traffic stop in connection with the investigation and was found with an AK-47 and in a stolen vehicle. He faces multiple weapons charges. Police have not confirmed if McCain is a suspect in the mass shooting, and the investigation into who is responsible for the death of Charles Graham Jr. remains ongoing.
