On the evening of Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the life of 25-year-old Damien Michael Williams was cut short in a fatal shooting that marked the city of Warren, Ohio's third homicide of the year. Known to his loved ones as "Day Day" and "Dame," Williams was discovered by police inside a residence on the northwest side of the city with a gunshot wound to the head.
Warren police were dispatched to a home in the 400 block of School Street NW at 7:56 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots.
Upon entering the residence, officers found Williams deceased. Also present at the scene was 19-year-old Serroyan Jubar Couto, who was immediately taken into custody as a suspect and transported to the Trumbull County jail.
Following the incident, Couto, of Perkins Drive NW, was arraigned in Warren Municipal Court on a homicide charge. He was ordered to be held without bond after the judge determined he posed a significant risk to the community. Subsequently, a Trumbull County grand jury indicted Couto on a charge of aggravated murder, which included a three-year gun specification, indicating the alleged killing was premeditated. At his arraignment in the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, Couto's bond was set at $5 million.
Damien Williams, born in Warren on October 26, 2000, was a caregiver at Moonlight Home Healthcare for four years. Remembered by his family for his enjoyment of traveling and cooking, his death has left a void in the lives of his parents, numerous siblings, and extended family. Funeral services were scheduled to be held on April 13, 2026, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
