In the spring of 2026, the life of Virgil Leroy Hardeman Jr., a 38-year-old man, was cut short in a burst of violence in Charlotte, North Carolina. On the evening of Thursday, April 9th, officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon on East McCullough Drive in the University City division. They arrived to find Hardeman suffering from gunshot wounds.
