On September 18, 2025, Jahday Humphrey, age 20, a male from Charlotte, was shot in uptown during the busy lunch hour, in the alleyway along Brevard Court by the Latta Arcade, across from Romare Bearden Park. Officers swarmed the French Quarter area within minutes as crowds scattered from nearby businesses. He was pronounced dead after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

By the next day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police publicly identified the victim as Jahday Humphrey, age 20, and said homic ...
