Death by Force

Walter Scott, a 65-year-old man, was fatally shot on February 15, 2017, while delivering newspapers in uptown Charlotte, NC. Scott, known affectionately as the "Paperman," was well-known in the community for his dedication to his job and his generosity towards the homeless and needy. He was shot multiple times by Roger Best, a 22-year-old man, during an attempted robbery. Scott managed to return fire, hitting Best in the abdomen, but tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
