On December 10, 2003, 38-year-old Robert William Kirk was shot and killed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred near 113 West Boulevard, marking his first day as a taxi driver for Charlotte Checkers Cab Company. Kirk had been dispatched for a fare at 11:55 p.m. to 1139 West Boulevard, but the residents at that address had not called for a cab.
