Latisha Ann Marie Greene, a 20-year-old Black female from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was caught in a burst of gunfire late on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the area of Abbott Street and Drexel Avenue on the city’s southeast side. Police were called to the 3200 block of Abbott Street at about 11:16 p.m. after reports of a shooting, and when officers arrived, they found multiple people wounded.
Latisha was among the victims, suffering from gunshot wounds severe enough that she had to be rushed to a local hospital.
The shooting left five people injured in all. Four other victims survived and were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while Latisha’s condition worsened after she arrived at the hospital. She was later pronounced dead on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The Allen County Coroner’s Office determined that her cause of death was gunshot wounds and ruled the manner of death a homicide. Her death was counted as the fourth homicide of 2026 for both Fort Wayne and Allen County.
Away from the scene of violence, Latisha was remembered by loved ones as someone full of life, laughter, and warmth. She was born in Fort Wayne on September 24, 2005, the daughter of Tiwon Greene and Gwendolynn Bloom. Those close to her described her as kind, gentle, playful, and positive, someone who loved her family and animals and dreamed of becoming a realtor one day. Her obituary described a young woman whose smile, laughter, and “goofiness” would be deeply missed.
Investigators later identified David Emanuel Hunter Jr., 21, as a suspect in the shooting. Authorities issued a warrant for him in late April 2026, describing him as wanted in connection with Latisha’s homicide. Reports indicated the warrant included serious felony allegations, including murder, attempted murder, and battery with a deadly weapon. Police also referred to the warrant as a felony murder warrant and asked the public for help locating him.
Court-record details reported publicly described investigators receiving conflicting witness accounts, including statements that pointed to a suspect known by the nickname “D-Hun,” which authorities connected to Hunter. Investigators also reportedly examined whether the shooting may have been tied to an earlier violent incident involving a member of Hunter’s family, though that part of the case remained under investigation. As of the latest available reports, Hunter was wanted, and authorities were still asking anyone with information about his whereabouts or the shooting itself to contact Fort Wayne police or Crime Stoppers.
