At some point, the atmosphere changed. Authorities said a real firearm was pulled during the gathering, and gunfire broke out. Coriuan was shot amid the confusion as students scattered from the park.
Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of the shooting around 12:15 p.m. Coriuan was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
