In the autumn of 2017, the life of 34-year-old Tyreece Forrest, a male resident of Memphis, Tennessee, was brought to a tragic and violent end. On October 4th, he was discovered unresponsive in the driver's seat of his parked car, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his head and neck. The vehicle was situated outside a rooming house in the 3300 block of Keystone Avenue, in close proximity to Keystone Elementary School.
The investigation that followed painted a grim picture of the
final moments of Forrest's life. Law enforcement officials were able to utilize surveillance footage which captured the brutal act. The video evidence showed a man approaching Forrest's vehicle and firing a weapon multiple times before hastily leaving the scene. In a chilling turn of events, the same individual was seen returning to the area to collect the shell casings left behind.
Through diligent police work, a suspect was identified as Darius Lamon Mack, a resident of the Raleigh neighborhood in Memphis. Approximately two weeks after the shooting, authorities located and apprehended Mack. He was found asleep inside his car in South Memphis. The ensuing legal process brought the details of the crime to the forefront, culminating in a conviction. A jury found Darius Lamon Mack guilty of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. For his crimes, Mack received an automatic sentence of life in prison, bringing a close to the search for justice for Tyreece Forrest.
