In the Soulsville neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, a gathering on January 29, 2025, took a tragic turn, ending the life of 27-year-old Marcus Epps. The incident unfolded inside a residence on College Park Drive, where a dispute during a dice game escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
Memphis Police Department officers responded to the scene just after 3:30 p.m. to find a chaotic and violent aftermath. Five individuals had been shot.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and four others, including three men and one woman, were rushed to area hospitals for treatment. Despite medical efforts, one of the men transported to the hospital, later identified as Marcus Epps, succumbed to his injuries. Another victim, 30-year-old Leon Parker, also died as a result of the shooting. The remaining three victims were hospitalized.
The investigation into the deadly shooting led to the arrest of 31-year-old Lorenzo Brown. According to court records, Brown was identified as one of the gunmen involved in the fatal altercation. Witnesses stated that the violence erupted from a game of dice that was taking place in the kitchen of the home. Brown is facing an aggravated assault charge in connection with the incident.
