On a Sunday evening in Centralia, Illinois, the life of 19-year-old Stephen McCary III was tragically cut short. On April 19, 2026, just after 5 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 900 block of East Kell Street. When Centralia police arrived at the scene, they found that McCary had been shot. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the Marion County Coroner.
