He had a passion for cooking and listening to music, and he loved spending time with his girlfriend, Haylee, as well as his family and friends.
The investigation revealed that Jaden was shot during a sleepover at a friend's house. A 15-year-old boy, identified on social media as Jayden Smith, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter just days after the incident. He was sentenced to a maximum of five years in the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice, but was released after serving only six months. The release of the teen without notifying the victim's family or the State's Attorney's office sparked outrage and concerns about the justice system's handling of the case.

Two other boys and their mother, Nicole Kirgan, were charged with obstruction of justice and destroying evidence. Kirgan received 30 months of probation after pleading guilty.
