In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, a violent altercation in Phenix City, Alabama, tragically ended the life of 33-year-old Timothy Harris. The incident, which involved a shooting, took place at a residence on Old State Road. Responding to a call about the shooting, Phenix City Police Department officers discovered Harris suffering from two gunshot wounds.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, a family member was present and attempting to provide life-saving
measures to Harris. Despite these efforts, Harris was transported to the Piedmont Columbus Regional Intensive Care Unit, where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 a.m. The cause of death was determined to be a fatal gunshot wound sustained during what authorities described as an altercation with his brother.
The family member who was assisting Harris when police arrived has since been identified as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Investigators have interviewed this individual, along with several other witnesses, to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting. The case remains an active investigation and is expected to be presented before a Russell County Grand Jury.
In the wake of his death, arrangements were made for Timothy "Scrap" Terrell Harris's funeral service to be held at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City, with his burial to follow at the Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. His body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy to further aid the investigation.
