In the late hours of April 26, 2026, a life was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. Taylor Joseph Geter, a 23-year-old man from the neighboring Bossier City, was killed in a shooting that stemmed from a physical altercation. The incident unfolded near Waterside Park, in the 200 block of East Dudley Drive, just after 11:00 PM.

Earlier in the evening, a fight had broken out between two individuals. After the initial conflict had seemingly ended and those involved had separated, the situation took a deadly turn. The 15-year-old brother of one of the individuals who had been in the fight retrieved a firearm. He then fired at Geter, striking him in the groin area.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Geter was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The young man's death marked the 18th homicide in Shreveport for the year.

In the wake of the shooting, the Shreveport Police Department launched an investigation. The 15-year-old who allegedly fired the fatal shot was taken into custody by law enforcement. He is now facing charges in connection with the homicide as the investigation continues.
