In the early evening of March 30, 2026, tragedy struck at the Cameron Crossing Apartment Complex in Lagrange, Georgia, claiming the lives of two young people, including 18-year-old Jamarcus Kennedy. The incident unfolded around 5:35 p.m. when LaGrange Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Meadow Terrace following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a harrowing scene.
Officers first located 26-year-old Jakhala Moss in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound. As emergency medical personnel attended to her, witnesses at the scene directed law enforcement to Moss's apartment, where they feared there might be another victim. Inside the apartment, they found Jamarcus Kennedy, who had also been shot. Despite the efforts of medical responders, both Kennedy and Moss succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that two male suspects approached the apartment building on foot and opened fire on both Kennedy and Moss. After being shot, Kennedy managed to run into Moss's apartment, where he collapsed. The two suspects fled the area on foot and have not yet been identified by law enforcement.
Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting and the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made in the case, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Jamarcus, known to some as "JJ," is survived by his parents, siblings, and other family members.
