In the quiet neighborhood of Country Club Hills in north St. Louis County, the evening of Thursday, April 9, 2026, was shattered by violence. Responding to a call of a shooting just before 10:30 p.m., officers from the Country Club Hills Police Department arrived at the 5600 block of Gatesworth Avenue to a grim scene. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was identified as Alex Taylor, a 29-year-old man from St. Louis.
The second victim was Demetrius Wagner, also 29, who lived on the block where the shooting occurred. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene, turning a neighborhood street into the site of a double homicide investigation.
