In the Belmont section of the Bronx, a burst of gunfire in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, tragically cut short the life of 19-year-old Lamar Simmons. The young man was shot in the chest at the intersection of East 183rd Street and Hughes Avenue, just a short distance from his home. The incident occurred at approximately 2:06 p.m. in a busy area with businesses and a daycare nearby.
