On the evening of March 15, 1994, Sean McDonald, a 26-year-old male New York City Police Officer, was on duty in the High Bridge section of the Bronx. He was assigned to guard a condemned building at the corner of Edward L. Grant Highway and Shakespeare Avenue. Around 7:30 p.m., a report of suspicious activity at a nearby clothing store drew his attention. Responding to the alert, Officer McDonald entered the shop to investigate and found a robbery in progress, confronting two suspects.
