On the night of March 4, 2026, a dispute escalated to deadly violence in the parking lot of KC Mulligans, a bar on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, South Carolina, claiming the life of 29-year-old Kevin Lamar Green of Ladson. The young man, known affectionately as "KG" to his friends and family, was shot and killed following an altercation that began inside the establishment.
North Charleston Police Department officers responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 11:20 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Green in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services and the North Charleston Fire Department were dispatched to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Green was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide led authorities to identify 17-year-old Maxwell Koller as the primary suspect. It is alleged that the fatal encounter occurred after a game of pool. Following the shooting, Koller, with the assistance of his parents, 55-year-old Thomas Koller and 52-year-old Renee Koller, fled the state. The family was later located and apprehended in Georgia by U.S. Marshals.
Maxwell Koller and his father were extradited back to North Charleston to face charges. The teenager has been charged with murder. His parents are facing charges of being accessories after the fact to murder for their alleged roles in helping their son evade capture. Following their return to South Carolina, Renee Koller was granted a $100,000 bond and was subsequently released from jail on March 6. Thomas Koller received a $250,000 bond. Maxwell Koller waived his right to a bond hearing. The investigation into the death of Kevin Lamar Green is ongoing.
