On the evening of March 4, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the Lindenwood Park neighborhood in south St. Louis, claiming the life of 20-year-old Abdule Campbell. A male, Campbell was a local rapper also known as "La Boogie". Just after 8:30 p.m., as he parked his car in the 6600 block of Arsenal Street, a horrifying scene unfolded. According to reports, four men wearing ski masks and hoodies exited a vehicle, surrounded a nearby apartment building, and unleashed a barrage of
over 70 shots.
Three of the assailants then turned their attention to the car Campbell had just parked, firing repeatedly into the vehicle. Inside, Campbell was struck by the gunfire. A passenger in the car with him miraculously escaped without injury. The sound of the gunfire was described by a neighbor as being as loud and terrifying as a freight train. Emergency services were called to the scene at 8:45 p.m., and first responders found Campbell wounded. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The car, riddled with about a dozen bullet holes in its windshield, was later towed from the scene.
In the wake of the shooting, neighbors expressed their shock at the violence that had erupted in their community. One woman remembered Campbell as a respectful young man who would often offer to help her with her groceries. The St. Louis Police Department's homicide detectives are leading the investigation into Campbell's death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
