In the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, a large field party in the Knottsville area of Daviess County, Kentucky, turned fatal for 19-year-old Brody Lanham. The gathering, which took place near KY 144 and St. Lawrence Road, was attended by numerous young people. Authorities from the Daviess County Sheriff's Office had reportedly visited the location earlier in the evening for a bonfire but found no illicit activity. However, hours later, an altercation broke out, leading to gunfire.
Lanham was shot during the incident and was privately transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A juvenile was also struck by gunfire but was treated for several gunshot wounds and later released from the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led detectives to identify two suspects from Oldham County who had traveled to the party after being invited by other attendees. The two men were identified as 20-year-old James Carr of Crestwood and 19-year-old Ayden Louis Farrow of La Grange. Following the shooting, investigators tracked the suspects from Knottsville back to La Grange. Farrow was apprehended by Oldham County officers during a traffic stop. Carr later surrendered to the Florence Police in Boone County.
Following their apprehension, both Carr and Farrow were charged in connection with the death of Brody Lanham. Carr faces charges of murder, second-degree assault, and tampering with physical evidence. Farrow was initially charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension and tampering with physical evidence. Later, additional charges of murder and second-degree assault were brought against him. Both men were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. During their first court appearance, both Carr and Farrow entered not guilty pleas. Carr's bond was set at $1 million, while Farrow's was set at $250,000. Investigators believe they have apprehended all individuals involved and do not anticipate further arrests.
