Osmar Enrique Flores Cacho, a 24-year-old male, tragically lost his life on the evening of Sunday, February 15, 2026, in a shooting that erupted in the Village de l'Est neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident, which unfolded in the 13500 block of Granville Street, resulted in a total of four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and left a community searching for answers.
Around 5:46 p.m., the New Orleans Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a chaotic scene but no victims. It was soon learned that the four wounded individuals had been transported to local hospitals by private vehicles. Three of the victims, including Flores Cacho, were taken to one hospital, while the fourth was admitted to another. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Osmar Enrique Flores Cacho succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other three victims were treated for their injuries.
The New Orleans Police Department has classified the case as a homicide and launched a full investigation into the shooting.
