On a quiet Sunday night in Richmond, Virginia, a knock at the door turned deadly for a beloved mother of four. Florence McCrea, a 56-year-old Black woman, was fatally shot on January 25, 2026, in an act of violence that marked the city's first homicide of the year. The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 11:17 p.m. at an apartment in the 1500 block of North 21st Street.
