On the evening of January 27, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, 33-year-old Christopher Thomas Fitzgerald II was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. inside an apartment in the 7200 block of Hatteras Lane, located on the city's west side near West 38th Street and Interstate 465.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot and discovered Fitzgerald inside the apartment with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.
As of now, the shooting is an ongoing homicide investigation. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case.
