On September 29, 2019, Brandon Kelly Woodfork, a 26-year-old male, was killed by gunfire. His death was one of two separate fatal shootings that occurred within a short span of time in the city, leaving the community shaken.
Born on February 7, 1993, in Indianapolis, Brandon was known for his warm and generous spirit.
He was the youngest of three children and had a reputation for being a person who never met a stranger and would readily give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Those who knew him recall his 'cheesy and wonderful smile' and a comical personality that brought laughter to those around him. He had a particular love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his daughter, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A familiar and endearing trait was his love for food, often jokingly inquiring about what was cooking or where the food was at family gatherings.
Following his graduation from Lawrence Central High School, he pursued further education at ITT Technical Institute.
