A Kansas City evening turned deadly on Saturday, January 31, 2026, ending the life of 28-year-old Decorrian Partee. The tragic events unfolded inside a Popeye's restaurant situated at the intersection of 31st Street and Prospect Avenue. An interaction between several people inside the fast-food establishment reportedly escalated into a heated altercation.
The dispute took a fatal turn when gunfire erupted, shattering the ordinary evening for patrons and staff.
When officers from the Kansas City Police Department responded to the shooting call shortly after 8 p.m., they discovered a chaotic scene with two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was found alert and was quickly transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Decorrian Partee, however, was found unresponsive. Despite the immediate aid rendered by the officers and the subsequent efforts of emergency medical services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
