In the early morning hours of New Year's Day, a violent encounter in Ector County, Texas, resulted in the death of 25-year-old Quincy Devion Price and serious injuries to a 21-year-old woman. The incident, which marked the county's first homicide of 2026, occurred around 3:20 a.m. on January 1st in the 1100 block of West 57th Street in Odessa. When Ector County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene following a report of a shooting, they discovered Price deceased from a gunshot wound to
the head. The female victim was found with a gunshot wound to her abdomen and was transported to Medical Center Hospital for treatment.
Before she was taken to the hospital, the injured woman identified the shooter as 25-year-old Nathaniel Ray Anthony Tinner. She reported that Tinner shot both her and Price as they were standing outside a residence. Following the shooting, Tinner fled the scene in Price's Chevrolet Malibu. Based on the witness's statement, law enforcement officials quickly secured an arrest warrant for Tinner on a charge of murder.
The search for Tinner concluded when he was located and arrested in Arlington, Texas. He was taken into custody without incident and is awaiting transport back to Ector County. An investigation into Tinner's background revealed a prior conviction for evading police in 2024.
In the wake of his death, Quincy Devion Price is being remembered by his family and friends. Funeral services have been scheduled, with a viewing to be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Mayberry Funeral Home in Midland, followed by a Celebration of Life service on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, also in Midland.
