Before dawn on January 4, 2026, May Dowdy, a woman in Memphis, Tennessee, was killed inside a home on Philsdale Avenue after what police described as a domestic argument that turned deadly. Officers were dispatched to the residence around the 2:25–2:30 a.m. hour on a domestic-violence call, arriving to find a chaotic, intimate scene—one where the violence had already happened, and the person responsible was still there.
