On the afternoon of January 10, 2026, Vincent Turner, a 39-year-old man, was shot and killed in an apartment on the northwest side of Indianapolis. The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. in the 3500 block of St. Thomas Lane. When officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Turner with gunshot wounds.
He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The events leading to the fatal shooting began the previous day with a dispute at the apartment where Turner was present. According to a witness, two of her longtime friends were involved in a fight at her apartment. These individuals later returned and vandalized the residence, breaking a sliding glass door with a fire extinguisher. The following day, one of the friends, accompanied by her boyfriend, came back to the apartment and demanded to be let inside.
The witness called 911 and alerted Vincent Turner to the situation. Turner went to the back door, which was covered with plastic due to the prior vandalism, and told the man to leave. In response, the suspect fired multiple shots through the plastic, striking Turner. The witness then found him on the floor of the living room.
Following the shooting, authorities arrested 24-year-old Frankie Salisberry in connection with Turner's death. He was preliminarily charged with murder and booked at the Marion County Community Justice Campus. Witnesses who were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting helped to identify Salisberry as the alleged shooter, leading to his swift arrest.
