A child who was present in the apartment at the time was fortunately unharmed.
The man responsible for the shooting, Lamonteon Williams, who was Johnson's roommate, fled the scene immediately after the incident. For months, he remained at large, but law enforcement eventually caught up with him. In March 2021, Williams was arrested and subsequently charged with the murder of Daniel Johnson Jr. His trial took place over three days in September 2022, culminating in a jury finding him guilty of murder and criminal recklessness.
