Anthony Eldridge, a 35-year-old male, was found on Sunday, June 17, 2018, having been fatally shot. The grim discovery was made after police were called to an apartment in the vicinity of Brentwood Drive and Essex Court to investigate a report of a possible shooting. Officers found an open door to a vacant unit and, upon entering, located Mr. Eldridge's body.
Paramedics were called to the scene but could do nothing for him, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of Anthony Eldridge led detectives to identify a suspect. Just a week after the shooting, on June 24, 2018, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested 32-year-old Ernest White for his alleged role in the killing. White was taken into custody and faced a preliminary charge of murder. Following the arrest, the case was handed over to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, which was tasked with reviewing the evidence and making a final decision on the official charges to be filed against him.
Anthony Wade 'Lil Dink' Eldridge, Jr., as he was known to loved ones, was remembered by his family, including his parents and numerous siblings. A visitation and funeral service were held to honor his memory on June 29, 2018, at the Jewel Event Center in Indianapolis. At the time of his death, it was reported that he was experiencing homelessness.
