A native of Marrero who was residing in Harvey at the time of his death, Hamilton was a former student of West Jefferson High School and worked as a pipe cleaner for C&C Marine Repair in Belle Chasse. He was the son of Shauna Hamilton and the late Patrick Butler. Family members noted that he was a father to a young daughter and was predeceased by his son.
Investigators from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, including spokesperson Sgt. Brandon Veal, launched a homicide investigation immediately following the discovery. Despite the inquiry, authorities have not released any information suggesting a motive for the shooting.
