Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 5000 block of Parkway Alley in Fairfield, Alabama, during the early morning hours of Sunday, November 30, 2025. Calls reporting a person down drew law enforcement to the scene at approximately 1:17 a.m., where they discovered a 29-year-old male, Ja’Oree Marquel Brown-Allen, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Despite the response from Fairfield Fire and Rescue, he was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigators determined that the fatal incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between family members that escalated into violence. Following a preliminary investigation, authorities took a 27-year-old woman named Alicia Brown into custody at the scene. Although she was initially detained without formal charges while detectives continued their work, the investigation quickly pointed to her involvement in the dispute that led to the shooting.
By the following day, Monday, December 1, detectives had obtained a warrant for her arrest. Alicia Brown was formally charged with murder in connection with the death of her relative. She was subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail, where she was ordered to be held without bond pending further legal proceedings.
