In the early evening of November 30, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Norristown, Pennsylvania neighborhood, leaving 19-year-old Hamid Boyd with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Powell and Spruce Streets. First responders rushed Boyd to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Investigators at the scene recovered a significant amount of evidence, including 45 fired cartridge casings.
The investigation into Boyd's death quickly pointed to a planned and targeted attack. Authorities have since arrested two individuals in connection with the homicide: 18-year-old Mark Fields and a 17-year-old from Philadelphia. Both face charges of first-degree murder. A third suspect, 20-year-old Ziyker Washington, remains at large and is also wanted on a first-degree murder charge. Officials have warned that Washington should be considered armed and dangerous. A reward of $5,000 has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, the shooting is believed to be gang-related. Investigators have connected Boyd to a gang known as "The Ave" and the three suspects to a rival gang called "1200". Surveillance footage and witness interviews revealed that Fields, Washington, and the 17-year-old were together at an apartment before the shooting. They allegedly used a white Chevrolet Cruze, belonging to Washington's girlfriend, to drive to the scene of the crime and flee afterward. The vehicle was later found abandoned in King of Prussia. Further evidence emerged from a social media post showing Washington, Fields, and the 17-year-old, with one of them holding a gun, along with a message directed at "The Ave" gang.
The community remembers Hamid Boyd as a beloved young man with a promising future. A talented basketball player, he was reportedly being scouted by several Division 1 schools. His family described him as a devoted father to his two-year-old daughter who "brought joy and hope to everyone around him." They stated he was simply walking to the store when he was tragically killed.
