In the early hours of a Friday morning in Buffalo, New York, 29-year-old Tyeisha Pettiford, a female resident of the city, was fatally shot. The incident, which also claimed the life of 37-year-old Shamel Parker, occurred on July 18, 2014. The two were sitting inside Pettiford's vehicle near the intersection of Sycamore Street and Jefferson Avenue when they were struck by gunfire. It was reported that Pettiford was pregnant at the time of her death.
Following the shooting, the vehicle rolled forward and struck a nearby SUV. The Buffalo Police Department's homicide detectives were called to the scene to begin their investigation into the double homicide. The case, however, has since been categorized as a cold case, indicating that the initial investigation did not lead to a resolution.
To date, there have been no publicly announced arrests or identification of suspects in the murders of Tyeisha Pettiford and Shamel Parker.
