On the night of December 7, 2025, a violent encounter unfolded in the parking lot of Bailey Lake in Burleson, Texas, claiming the life of 17-year-old male Keighan Robert Crist. Police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:33 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Keighan unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
First responders and paramedics immediately attempted life-saving measures before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruling his death a homicide.
The investigation at the scene revealed a second 17-year-old victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. This surviving teenager was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was able to provide investigators with an account of the events. Detectives determined that the shooting occurred during a narcotics transaction involving the victims and three other individuals. The situation reportedly escalated rapidly, leading to the gunfire that fatally wounded Keighan and injured the other teen. Witnesses in the vicinity described hearing a sudden pop followed by a rapid succession of shots, describing the sound as high-caliber gunfire.
Law enforcement officers acted quickly, identifying and locating one of the suspects, 17-year-old Wyatt Lynn Jacobs, at his residence in Burleson. Jacobs was found in a vehicle parked in his driveway and was detained for questioning. During the interview, he reportedly admitted to his involvement in the deadly encounter. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center on charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery, with his bond set at $1.2 million. In the days following the initial arrest, the investigation continued to progress, and authorities announced on December 12 that a total of four teenagers had been taken into custody and charged in connection with the murder.
Keighan was remembered by his family and community as a loving son and friend who had a passion for baseball, particularly playing the position of catcher. Born in Fort Worth, he was looking forward to graduating in January and had aspirations of starting his own business. A memorial service was held in his honor on December 12 at the Whitney Fellowship Church, where loved ones gathered to pay their respects to the young man whose life was cut short. The Burleson Police Department emphasized that the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from criminal activity between the parties involved and did not represent a continued threat to the general public.
