In the early morning hours of December 19, 2025, a fatal violent encounter occurred outside a local establishment in Arlington, Texas. Arlington Police Department officers were dispatched to a bar located in the 1000 block of Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard shortly before 2:00 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a 33-year-old male, identified as Deandre Montrell McCowan, lying unresponsive on the ground.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident, and despite the arrival of emergency personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses at the location directed law enforcement toward a vehicle parked in the lot, indicating that the individual responsible for the shooting was still inside. Officers approached the vehicle and detained two occupants, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Munoz and 32-year-old Karina Fuentes. During the subsequent investigation, police recovered a firearm from the back seat of the vehicle. According to statements gathered from those present, Munoz and McCowan had engaged in a verbal dispute outside the bar which rapidly escalated, resulting in Munoz firing multiple shots at the victim.
Although Munoz claimed to investigators that he had acted in self-defense, the legal outcome shifted after police consulted with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. Detectives obtained a warrant charging Munoz with murder. He also faced a charge for the unlawful carrying of a weapon prohibited in places where alcohol is sold. The second occupant of the vehicle, Karina Fuentes, was arrested and charged with interference with public duties, an allegation stemming from her actions while officers attempted to detain Munoz. Both individuals were booked into the Arlington City Jail.
