On June 6, 2024, at approximately 10:03 p.m., Arlington Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Marquis "KeKe" Davon Holliman lying unresponsive on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigations revealed that Holliman, a resident of the complex, had engaged in a verbal altercation with a female neighbor. Witnesses reported that after Holliman pushed the woman, another individual intervened, leading to the shooting. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Robert Kelly, fled the scene shortly after the incident.
Through anonymous tips and witness testimonies, detectives identified Kelly, known by the alias "Mike Mike," as the shooter. A search of the apartment where Kelly frequently stayed uncovered ammunition matching the shell casings found at the crime scene. After an extensive search, U.S. Marshals apprehended Kelly in Shreveport, Louisiana, on November 7, 2024. He was charged with one count of murder and is awaiting extradition to Texas.
Marquis Holliman, born on August 5, 1985, in Camden, Arkansas, had resided in Arlington for the past four years. Known for his kindness and dedication to family, he moved to Dallas to support his mother during her illness and found employment with an independent moving company. Holliman is survived by his mother, Joyce Ann Bryant; father, Curly Henderson; six children; and a grandchild. Funeral services were held on July 1, 2024, at Good Hope A.M.E. Church in Chidester, Arkansas.
In the wake of his passing, a GoFundMe campaign was organized by his mother to assist with funeral expenses and support for his children. The campaign highlighted Holliman's role as a father of five, with another child expected in October 2024.
